I totally dig early 2oth century children’s books. They seem so quaint and odd when we look at the illustrations and read the text nowadays. But some of them are incredibly beautiful and compelling. Others are just plain hilarious.
Here is a smattering of both kinds that I found all over the internet. Can you imagine reading “Poopy” the dancing doll to your 6 year old daughter and not busting out into uncontrollable giggle snorts?

If I were into collecting things, I think these would be right up my alley- although I don’t think my allergies could take it.

These are great! And timeless, after ala who wouldn’t be proud to have their little boy grow up to be a coal miner. Thanks for sharing!!! Going to pin a bunch because I love them!

Weird. Maybe it’s because it links to Flickr.

Hahaha! Love those! My sister and I used to dress our pets up like that in our doll’s clothes when we were little. So naughty. Of course they never stayed on very long.
My son would love Poopy the Dancing Doll. He loves any kind of potty humor and he will snort laugh himself into hysterics.

I LOVE the illustrations in books like these. They remind me of my grandmother reading to me as a child from the books that belonged to my daddy.
I think “You Can’t Pin Poopy” is the name of the book sequel.
