Do you recognize these boxes?
Surprise! They’re the new UNICEF boxes for this year. They got a spooky makeover, and I’m thinking it will be a load of fun to drop some coins into these characters. Although I do love the retro box a whole bunch.
Perhaps you noticed the odd white box above- the one on the top right. Nope, it’s not a pathetic-looking ghost. It’s a blank box for kids to design for next year’s collection. UNICEF is holding a contest for kids aged 4 and up (in 3 age categories), to design a new box for 2013. The winner will receive up to 1,000 boxes with their printed design, to distribute at their school, and they’ll get to name their character.
The deadline is October 26, and you can upload a photo of your child’s box here. This is where you can also check out the designs that have been previously uploaded.
Do you need a little refresher about UNICEF?
UNICEF was started in 1950 by Rev. Clyde and Mary Emma Allison as a way for kids to help kids everywhere in the world. The charity has helped feed starving children, filter water in areas that don’t enjoy it as a matter of every day life, educate, and basically help provide basic human rights to as many kids as possible.
Their single goal?
We believe in a world where ZERO children die of things we can prevent.
Urge your kids to design their UNICEF box for next year. But better yet, urge them to collect money for UNICEF while they’re out nabbing all that awesome sugar.
