My kids love tea. They’ll steal slurps of my iced green tea whenever I’m not looking, and if they’re sick they ask for “that sick tea”, which is:
While I’m not a huge tea connoisseur, I am pretty excited that tea has exploded in the U.S. over the past few years. It’s super fun to experience an independent tea store, where they will usually let you sample whatever you want, they know what to suggest based on your preferences, and the teas are all fresh and whole-leaved. (is that a real phrase?)
It dawned on me that there must be cool tea sets out there for kids. Somewhere. My 9 year old, Fen, threw her share of tea parties, and we relied on a small ceramic tea set from Target. Since she’s outgrown tiny tea parties, it’s too late for her, but you can bet my 2 year old (Beckett), will be tea-partying it up all over the place. Maybe I’ll give him a year to work out his tendency to whip everything across the room before we have our first tea bash.
Teavana has a whole category of kids’ teas and accessories on their site, including this strawberry lemonade herbal tea.
I like this wooden set of 2, that includes tea bags and sugar cubes, from KidKraft.

Kids’ tea pack from Teaopia, a Canadian company, includes Cherry, Apple Pear, Tropical Fruit Punch and Strawberry Kiwi flavors. All are caffeine and sugar free. They suggest making tea ice pops with them. MMMMMM
This wooden tea set from Plan Toys is made from rubberwood. Can’t you just hear the knocking sound of the wooden stirrer against the cup?
Of course, you could always just knit your own set of Fiesta. The pic is linked to the pattern- isn’t it time you learned to knit?
If none of these float your boat, you could always just buy this cool small teapot and cups from Heath Ceramics for your kids. And you.
Don’t forget the manners! I think any book that teaches you how to eat sushi politely is pretty great.

I purchased that set from Green Toys even though my kids were past the age of tea parties…. I just couldn’t resist and I’m hoping one day I’ll find the perfect little one to give it to.
I love your picks!!! I really have to get (I mean my kids have to get) the Green Toys set! We love tea parties – my kids love raspberry herbal tea and I love how they instantly get all well behaved and stuff.
BTW, won’t the tea come right through the knit set ; )

Hubby sat with me while i was reading this post. he’s a big fan of tea and he wants to make sure the little ones wake up on cold mornings and drink tea (and not hot chocolate) so we definitely love this! i love the red with polka dot set too!

Tea sets are the best. I gave my daughter the one I had when I was little, and she has another one that someone gave her in a wicker basket when she was born. And I think I will buy many copies of this book on manners and hand them out to parents when I encounter unmannerly children.

That’s a good idea to just get them into the habit of asking for tea instead of hot chocolate. That makes me think it would be a good idea to set up a little tea container especially for kids’ teas so they can choose from different flavors. Ya!
